It’s not even December and already the earth quakes, tsunamis and storms have started.
No, I do not believe in “the end of the world” scenarios if there would be any truth to those it would have ended twice or three times in my lifetime already. Still you can’t help thinking about it.
I have been talking to my granny lately and she mentioned the fact that in her childhood hardly anyone had a car, telephone, radio let alone a tv.
Today there are usually more than one of each in a family + laptops, ipods ect. Even about 40 years ago when I was born there was only one telly, phone or car possible for a family. Children could go into nature on their own and explore and writers had a really hard time to get discovered.
I think the availlability of internet for the whole world has been a change for humankind like the invention of the wheel or the printing press. We are not even close to understand and gather what it will mean for us.
The world my grandmother or me have grown up in has ended for sure. Dictators fall, pedophiles can’t get away any more and politicians have to work harder and to makes us believe their lies.
That sounds to me very much like the dawn of a new age. The only question is: What will we make of it?
Wir haben es noch nicht mal Dezember und die Erdbeben, Tsunamis und Stuerme haben bereits begonnen.
Nein ich glaube nicht an die “Weltuntergangs” Szenarios. Waere da irgendeine Wahrheit dran, waere das schon mindestens zwei- oder dreimal zu meiner Lebenszeit passiert.
Aber ich habe kuerzlich mit meiner Grossmutter telefoniert und sie erzaehlte, dass es kaum jemanden gab, der ein Auto, Telefo, Radio ganz abgesehen von einem Fernseher besass als sie ein Kind war.
Heute gibt es zumeist mehr als eines davon in jeder Familie + Laptops, Ipods ect. Sogar vor ungefaehr 40 Jahren als ich geboren wurde gab es normalerweise nur ein Auto oder Fernseher pro Familie. Kinder konnten noch alleine die Natur entdecken gehen und Schriftsteller hatten es wirklich schwer, entdeckt zu werden.
Ich glaube, dass die Ausbreitung des Internets ueber die ganze Welt eine Entwicklung fuer die Menschheit ist, wie die Erfindung des Rades oder des Buchdrucks. Wir haben noch keinen Schimmer,was das fuer uns bedeuten wird.
Die Welt, in der meine Grossmutter oder ich aufgewachsen sind, hat ganz sicher bereits geendet. Diktatoren fallen, Kinderschaender werden mehr und mehr zur Verantwortung gezogen und Politiker muessen immer haerter dafuer kaempfen, dass wir ihre Luegen glauben. Das hoert sich fuer mich ganz schoen nach der Daemmerung eines neuen Zeitalters an.
Die Frage ist nur, was wir daraus machen werden!

Some dictators have fell but some ones grow up. Some artificial borders have vanished but new iron walls are constructing. The world always changing but pains and sorrows remain indefinitely. I’m a pessimist because in my country freedom of word and conscience matters very small.
