HI there just a short note today as I am back at work and will see the brilliant Diego Marani this evening at The Book Hive in Norwich. I can not wait as I enjoyed his “New Finish Grammar” enormously. I will write about it tomorrow. Hope you have a day full of writing and wonder  .

Decisions/ Entscheidungen

Good morning everyone and a lovely week ahead for all of you!

Last night I have decided to have a little break from extensive blogging to concentrate more on my fantasy novel “Zara“. It was a tough decision but I just need more time to actually get writing it.

But do not fear ~ I will go on with the Proust~Questionaire as I just love this little project of mine. So Saturdays will still be blogging day !

Guten Morgen allerseits und eine wundervolle Woche wuensche ich Euch!

Letzte Nacht habe ich mich entschlossen das ausfuehrliche bloggen ein wenig einzustellen und mich mehr um meine Fantasygeschichte ”Zara” zu kuemmern. Das war eine schwere Entscheidung aber ich brauche einfach mehr Zeit, um wirklich endlich zu schreiben.

Aber keine Angst ~ ich werde den Proust-Fragebogen weiterfuehren, weil ich dieses kleine Projekt einfach liebe! Samstag wird also weiterhin Blogger-Tag bleiben !

Das ist mir seit langer Zeit nicht mehr passiert. Ich bin voll uninspiriert. Keine Ahnung was ich hier schreiben koennte. Noch nicht mal ein Video, das ich moegen koennte. Tja ich denke Ihr muesst Euch damit abfinden und Euch mit einem Bild zufrieden geben

Where is common sense gone?

Yesterday I read a blog post and its comments about an author and his book. Apparently the lady who writes the blog did not like the book very much and mentioned that she was not able to read the book as it was just not to her taste.

The author wrote a very personal comment that the lady was not able to distinguish between “Fantasy” literature and “Phantastische” literature (Phantastische meaning the German word for Fantasy). I have no idea what the difference might be and I wonder if he just made that genre up.

Well, he threatened her to sue her because he thinks that her blog is just made to destroy an author. His publisher wrote something about her committing “white collar crime”. Ey sorry? Since when is it a crime to say that you do not like a book? And it does not look to me like this blog is so famous that it would destroy an author.

The whole thing created a big fuzz on the German internet. My first reaction was: ” This is hair-raising. I do not want to read anything from an author who reacts like that. That guy has written himself into the grave”. And that is what I wrote when I posted the link to the blog on Facebook.

But the more I consider it the more I do not know what to think about it: Firstly ~ the guys reaction seems so overdone to me that I wonder if it is a set up either to sell his book more or to find out how something like that would find its way through the internet. Secondly ~ if it is genuine ~ how can an author react like that? You have to learn that not everybody likes what you write. I do not like Diana Galbaldon very much that’s how it is. Tough! Where do we end if we get sued for writing that we do not like a book? There is something like “freedom of speech” and that is not directly a crime, or is it???????? Thirdly ~ it might be a made up scandal to bring more publicity to the blog. No matter what the reason the whole thing seems to be totally out of proportion.

Well I will follow the whole thing because I want to know what comes out of it but will not buy or read the book because either way ~ genuine or set up ~ I think this is just out of order and I do not want to support any author who acts like that. And if I find out that it was just to get more publicity for the blog I will not visit that blog any more.

Wo ist der gesunde Menschenverstand geblieben?

Gestern habe ich einen Blog und dessen Kommentare ueber einen Autoren und sein Buch gelesen. Die Schreiberin des Blogs berichtete, dass sie das Buch nicht mag und es deshalb nicht lesen konnte.

Der Autor des Buches schrieb einen sehr persoenlich werdenden Kommentar, dass die Bloggerin nicht faehig sei, zwischen “Fantasy” und “Phantastischer Literatur” zu unterscheiden. Ich habe keine Ahnung, was der Unterschied sein koennte und habe begonnen mich zu wundern, ob er dieses Genre einfach erfunden hat.

Wie auch immer: er hat ihr gedroht, sie zu verklagen, da er befuerchtet, der Blog sei dubious und nur dazu da, um einen Autoren zu zerstoeren. Sein Verlag schrieb sogar sie wuerde “Wirtschaftskriminalitaet” verueben. He moment mal? Seit wann ist es ein Verbrechen, dass man ein Buch nicht mag? Und es sieht fuer mich nicht so aus, als ob der Blog so beruehmt sei, dass er Autoren zerstoeren koennte.

Das Ganze hat grosses Aufsehen im Internet hervorgerufen. Meine erste Reaktion war: “Da stehen mir die Haare zu Berge. Einen Autoren, der sich so verhaelt, will ich nicht lesen. Der hat sich selber ins Grab geschrieben” Und das habe ich dann auf Facebook veroeffentlich als ich den Link zu diesem Blog auf meine Wand setzte.

Aber je mehr ich ueber das Ganze nachdenke, desto mehr wundere ich mich und weiss nicht mehr, was ich darueber denken soll. Erstens ~ die Reaktion des Autoren scheint mir so ueberzogen zu sein, dass ich mich frage, ob das Ganze ein Fake ist, entweder um sein Buch besser zu verkaufen oder herauzufinden, wie sich so eine Meldung im Internet weiterentwickelt. Zweitens ~ falls es authentisch ist ~ wie kann ein Autor bloss so reagieren? Man muss halt lernen, dass nicht jeder sein Buch mag. Ich mag Diana Galbaldon nicht besonders. Das ist eben so! Wo kommen wir denn hin, wenn jeder verklagt wird, nur weil er schreibt, er mag ein Buch nicht. Da gibt es dann doch so was wie “Meinungsfreiheit” und das ist ja nicht direkt ein Verbrechen, oder doch?????? Drittens ~ es koennte ein inszenierter Skandal sein, um mehr Publikum zu dem Blog zu bringen. Egal wie, das Ganze scheint mir total uebertrieben zu sein.

Tja, ich werde das weiterhin verfolgen, da ich wissen will, wie es ausgeht. Aber ich werde das Buch nicht kaufen oder lesen, weil ich ~ egal ob echt oder inszeniert ~ einen Autoren, der sich so verhaelt, nicht unterstuetzen will. Und falls es sich heraustellen sollte, dass es zu  mehr Besuchern fuer den Blog fuehren sollte, werde ich diesen Blog auch meiden.

love your blog ~ plant a tree/ Liebe Deinen Blog ~ pflanze einen Baum

My second boy friend gave me a chestnut tree in a pot as a gift. I really loved that present but as he left me for another girl I neglected the tree badly the following winter and it did not survive.

About twenty years later I got with my then partner a Christmas tree in a pot. That one did not survive a really hot summer.  I tried to grow lemon trees and apple trees in pots but again I was not successful.

That does not sound like my carbon footprint is a very good one does it? Maybe I am just not very good with potted trees and there might be hope for myself. I just found one way to safe my reputation (and the world as well by the way):

It is called: “1 Blog, 1 Tree” and it is a project that plants 1 tree for you if you blog about it and so reduces the carbon footprint of your blog.

I can hear you ask (and yes I asked it too): “My blog has a carbon footprint?????” Well apparently your pc, laptop ect, mainframe computers, servers and their cooling systems use an enormous amount of energy and therefore CO2. Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University has figured out that a site or blog which has an average visit of 15.000 per month uses  0.02g (0,0008oz.) CO2 per visit which is 3,6kg (8lb.) per year. Really I never thought about that!

According to “1 Blog  1 Tree” 1 tree can reduce the amount of 5 kg (11lb) per year which is more than one blog causes. So if you take part you do a good deal of “saving the world”.

Yes I know those calculations are somewhat dubious but what the h…. ~ they plant a  tree which is something beautiful and good in itself. Who cares how much CO2 it really reduces?????

I will join today and do my bit besides switching of any light I do not really need, using energy saving lamps, walk as often as I can instead of using the car, wearing a jumper instead of switching on the heating and using re-usable bags and start making my own shampoo ect to prevent more waste.

Mein zweiter Freund hatte mir vor Jahren einen Kastanienbaum in einem Eimer geschenkt. Ich liebte diese Geschenk wirklich aber als er mich wegen eines anderen Maedchens verlassen hat, habe ich den Baum straeflich vernachlaessigt und infolge dessen ueberlebte er den naechsten Winter nicht.

So ungefaehr 20 Jahre spaeter habe ich mit meinem damaligen Partner einen Weihnachtsbaum wieder im Eimer gekauft. Der hat aber einen richtig heissen Sommer nicht ueberstanden. Ich habe versucht Zitronen~ und Apfelbaeume in Poetten zu ziehen aber auch da war ich nicht erfolgreich.

Das hoert sich nicht  so an, als ob mein CO2 Fussabdruck unheimlich gut waere. Aber vielleicht bin ich ja einfach nicht talentiert mit Baeumen in Eimern und Toepfen und trotzdem mag es  irgendwo noch Hoffnung fuer mich geben. Gerade habe ich einen Weg gefunden, meinen Ruf wieder herzustellen (und ganz nebenbei noch ein bischen die Welt zu retten):

Der Weg heisst “Mach Deinen Blog CO2 neutral” und ist ein Projekt, das Baeume fuer Blogs pflanzt, wenn man ueber das Projekt schreibt und somit den CO2 Fussabdruck des Blogs verkleinert.

Ich hoere Dich jetzt schon sagen (und ja ich habe das auch gefragt): “Mein Blog hat einen CO2 Fussabdruck?????”

Offensichtlich verbrauchen unsere Pc’s, Laptops, die Mainframe Computer, Server und ihre Kuehlungssysteme eine Unmenge an Energie und damit an  CO2. Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD,  Physiker an der Harvard University hat herausgefunden, dass ein Blog mit einer durchschnittlichen Besucherzahl von 15.000 pro Monat ungefaehr   0.02g (0,0008oz.) CO2 pro Besuch verbraucht, was 3,6kg (8lb.) pro Jahr ist.  Da habe ich wirklich noch nie drueber nachgedacht.

Ja, ich weiss diese Berechnungen sind irgendwie dubios. Aber was solls? Sie pflanzen einen Baum und das an sich ist schon etwas Schoenes und Gutes. Wen kuemmert es da wieviel CO2 der Baum reduziert?

Ich jedenfalls werde heute beitreten und somit noch ein bischen mehr tun, als die Lichter auszuschalten, wann immer moeglich, Energiesparlampen zu benutzen, zu laufen statt Auto zu fahren, wenn es geht, einen Pullover zu tragen anstatt die Heizung gleich anzustellen, wiederverwendbare Taschen zu benutzen und anzufangen Shampoo ect selber zu machen, um weniger Muell zu produzieren.

Und Du?????? Wie sieht das mit Dir aus?????

There is a tip/ Da gibt es einen Ratschlag

There is a tip for writers:” Always have a notebook with you to jot down ideas otherwise you forget them and might miss THE idea for your novel/poem ect!”

I guess this is a good tip for bloggers as well as today I had two ideas what to write today but by the time I got home I forgot both (two letters for hospital appointments as well as a call from my granny might have helped with the forgetting). Well I have my notebook with me where ever I go ~ I just can not be bothered to write the ideas down.

Seems I have to learn it the hard way then!

Da gibt es einen Tip fuer Autoren: “Habe immer ein Notizbuch bei Dir, um Ideen aufzuschreiben, weil Du sie sonst vergisst und vielleicht DIE Idee fuer Deinen Roman/Gedicht ect verpasst!”

Ich denke dies ist auch ein guter Rat fuer Blogger. Heute zum Beispiel hatte ich zwei gute Ideen, worueber ich schreiben koennte aber als ich nach Hause kam hatte ich beide vergessen (zwei Briefe mit Krankenhaus Terminen und ein Anruf meiner Oma hat wohl das ihrige getan, um die Ideen zu vergessen). Tja, ich habe mein Notizbuch immer bei mir ~ ich kann mich  nur nicht dazu aufraffen, die Ideen aufzuschreiben.

Muss ich es halt auf die harte Art und Weise lernen!

It is a tricky business…/ Es ist schwierig…

….. to chose the “right” blog name!

When I started this blog I felt like rising from the ashes and to start a new way of life: Less drama ~ more fun!

I was actually thinking of Harry Potter’s headteacher’s Albus Dumbledore’s pet Fawkes which is a gorgeous crimson bird with a golden tail long as a peacocks called a phoenix. It bursts into flames periodically but not as rarely as Wikipedia says which would be after a 1000 years (that would have given J.K. Rowling a lot more Harry Potter’s to write).

I wished I could be the companion of an mythological animal like that as it not only has enormous strength but also healing abilities. I love that and that is why I chose the name.

Well I should have researched that symbol a bit better as apparently the phoenix was also an important symbol of the nazi-regime as well as it still is for the neo-nazis all over the world (obviously for the RIA as well ~ Oh what have I done??????! )!

Alas we all have to pay a price for our actions and mine is a spam-folder full of links to nazi-blogs all over the world (as well as those for water-beds and student-cardigans ~ life can be strange!!!!).

I will not get bored though as they keep me occupied with deleting them!!!!!!

….. den “rechten” Blognamen, zu waehlen!

Als ich diesen Blog begann, habe ich mich gefuehlt, als ob ich aus der Asche zu einem neuen Leben empor gestiegen waere: Weniger Drama ~ mehr Spass!

Ich hatte eigentlich an  Harry Potter’s Schulleiter Albus Dumbledore und sein Haustier Fawkes gedacht, das ein wunderschoener pupurner Vogel mit dem goldenen Schwanz eines Pfaues ist und ein Phoenix genannt wird. Er verbrennt sich regelmaessig selber obwohl nicht so selten wie Wikipedia sagt: Das waere nach ca. 1000 Jahren der Fall (was J.K. Rowling noch sehr viele Harry Potter’s mehr zu schreiben gegeben haette).

Ich waere gerne die Mitbewohnerin eines solchen mythologischen Tieres, da es nicht nur unermessliche Staerke sondern auch Heilkraefte besitzt und das liebe ich! Deshalb habe ich den Namen gewaehlt “phoenixrisesagain/ Phoenix erhebt sich wieder”!

Tja, ich haette das Symbol wohl besser recherchieren sollen, denn offensichtlich war der Phoenix ein wichtiges Sybmbol der alten nazis wie auch der neuen neo-nazis auf der ganzen Welt (und natuerlich auch der RIA ~ was habe ich bloss getan??????!)!

Nun ja, wir bezahlen alle den Preis fuer unsere Handlungen und der meinige ist ein Spam-Ordner voller Links zu  nazi-blogs aus aller Welt (wie auch derer fuer Wasserbetten und Studentenjacken ~ das Leben kann manchmal merkwuerdig sein!!!!!).

So wird mir wenigstens nicht langweilig: Die halten mich ja beschaeftigt mit dem Loeschen der Links!!!

Funny how things work out sometimes/ Komisch wie sich die Dinge manchmal entwickeln

I was working a late today. Usually I get all my blog writing done in the morning but there were other things to consider and so I decided to write after work.

Well that is all fine: I still have enough time as I can have a lay in tomorrow, I had some good ideas in the morning and I can not sleep soon after work any way. Too much going on in my mind.

Right! Everything’s settled then!

Just I forgot my great ideas as of course I did not write them down this morning and I just can not get into the ideas I have this evening. And then what did I stumbled upon?

Peas and Cougars: Coming to a Writer’s Block!

Heute hatte ich einen Spaetdienst. Normalerweise schreibe ich meine Blogs dann morgends aber heute gabs noch andere Dinge zu erledigen und so hatte ich mich entschieden, abends zu schreiben.

Tja, das ist alles schoen und gut! Ich habe noch genuegend Zeit, da ich morgen frei habe und ausschlafen kann, ich hatte einige gute Ideen am Morgen und nach der Arbeit kann ich eh nicht gleich schalfen. Da geht noch zu viel in meinem Kopf rum.

Ok! Dann ist ja alles klar zum Schreiben!

Natuerlich hatte ich die  morgendlichen Ideen nicht aufgeschrieben und die von heute Abend funktionieren einfach nicht so richtig. Und worueber bin ich dann auch noch gestolpert?

Changes finished/ Veraenderungen beendet

Hello Dear Readers,

moving the blog from blogger to wordpress has brought many changes. Up to now I tried to get the layout right and I made up my mind how much I wanted to go on with this.

This blog is close to my heart as it is the first I have done on a regular basis and it is a great platform to express what ever I am occupied with. But it needs time and there is a fantasy story still in my mind that needs writing. I write several other blogs ~ two under pseudonym and one of them has to be daily. Well,  I am not a financially clever person and none of them earns me anything and therefore there is a day job to do as well. To cut a long story short: I had to set priorities and manage my time properly.

Therefore I will only write on this one for four days a week which is Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday. It is not enough for all the ideas I have but alas a day only has 24 hours!

I hope you stay with me and still enjoy this blog! Thank you!

Hallo liebe Leser,

mit dem Wechsel von Blogger zu WordPress sind noch ein paar mehr Veraenderungen gekommen. Bis jetzt habe ich versucht, das Layout so hinzubekommen, wie es mir gefaellt und ich habe mir Gedanken darueber gemacht, wie ich mit diesem Blog weiter umgehen will.

Dieser Blog liegt mir sehr am Herzen, da es der erste ist, den ich regelemaessig geschrieben habe und er gibt mir eine grossartige Plattform, um ueber das zu schreiben, was mich gerade beschaefftigt. Aber es braucht Zeit und ich habe immer noch eine Fantasy Geschichte im Kopf, die gesschrieben werden will. Zudem schreibe ich einige andere Blogs ~ zwei unter Pseudonym und einer davon muss taeglich sein. Tja, da ich kein finanzielles Genie bin verdiene ich damit nichts und so braucht es noch eine Arbeitsstelle, um die Broetchen zu verdienen. Um es kurz zu machen: Ich muss Prioritaeten setzen und meine Zeit vernuenftig organisieren.

Deshalb werde ich auf diesem Blog nur noch 4 mal die Woche schreiben von Dienstag bis Donnerstag und Samstags. Das ist definitiv nicht genug fue all die Ideen, die ich habe aber leider hat der Tag nur 24 Stunden!

Ich hoffe Ihr bleibt mir trotzdem treu und geniest diesen Blog. Danke!
