My second boy friend gave me a chestnut tree in a pot as a gift. I really loved that present but as he left me for another girl I neglected the tree badly the following winter and it did not survive.

About twenty years later I got with my then partner a Christmas tree in a pot. That one did not survive a really hot summer.  I tried to grow lemon trees and apple trees in pots but again I was not successful.

That does not sound like my carbon footprint is a very good one does it? Maybe I am just not very good with potted trees and there might be hope for myself. I just found one way to safe my reputation (and the world as well by the way):

It is called: “1 Blog, 1 Tree” and it is a project that plants 1 tree for you if you blog about it and so reduces the carbon footprint of your blog.

I can hear you ask (and yes I asked it too): “My blog has a carbon footprint?????” Well apparently your pc, laptop ect, mainframe computers, servers and their cooling systems use an enormous amount of energy and therefore CO2. Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University has figured out that a site or blog which has an average visit of 15.000 per month uses  0.02g (0,0008oz.) CO2 per visit which is 3,6kg (8lb.) per year. Really I never thought about that!

According to “1 Blog  1 Tree” 1 tree can reduce the amount of 5 kg (11lb) per year which is more than one blog causes. So if you take part you do a good deal of “saving the world”.

Yes I know those calculations are somewhat dubious but what the h…. ~ they plant a  tree which is something beautiful and good in itself. Who cares how much CO2 it really reduces?????

I will join today and do my bit besides switching of any light I do not really need, using energy saving lamps, walk as often as I can instead of using the car, wearing a jumper instead of switching on the heating and using re-usable bags and start making my own shampoo ect to prevent more waste.

Mein zweiter Freund hatte mir vor Jahren einen Kastanienbaum in einem Eimer geschenkt. Ich liebte diese Geschenk wirklich aber als er mich wegen eines anderen Maedchens verlassen hat, habe ich den Baum straeflich vernachlaessigt und infolge dessen ueberlebte er den naechsten Winter nicht.

So ungefaehr 20 Jahre spaeter habe ich mit meinem damaligen Partner einen Weihnachtsbaum wieder im Eimer gekauft. Der hat aber einen richtig heissen Sommer nicht ueberstanden. Ich habe versucht Zitronen~ und Apfelbaeume in Poetten zu ziehen aber auch da war ich nicht erfolgreich.

Das hoert sich nicht  so an, als ob mein CO2 Fussabdruck unheimlich gut waere. Aber vielleicht bin ich ja einfach nicht talentiert mit Baeumen in Eimern und Toepfen und trotzdem mag es  irgendwo noch Hoffnung fuer mich geben. Gerade habe ich einen Weg gefunden, meinen Ruf wieder herzustellen (und ganz nebenbei noch ein bischen die Welt zu retten):

Der Weg heisst “Mach Deinen Blog CO2 neutral” und ist ein Projekt, das Baeume fuer Blogs pflanzt, wenn man ueber das Projekt schreibt und somit den CO2 Fussabdruck des Blogs verkleinert.

Ich hoere Dich jetzt schon sagen (und ja ich habe das auch gefragt): “Mein Blog hat einen CO2 Fussabdruck?????”

Offensichtlich verbrauchen unsere Pc’s, Laptops, die Mainframe Computer, Server und ihre Kuehlungssysteme eine Unmenge an Energie und damit an  CO2. Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD,  Physiker an der Harvard University hat herausgefunden, dass ein Blog mit einer durchschnittlichen Besucherzahl von 15.000 pro Monat ungefaehr   0.02g (0,0008oz.) CO2 pro Besuch verbraucht, was 3,6kg (8lb.) pro Jahr ist.  Da habe ich wirklich noch nie drueber nachgedacht.

“Mach Deinen Blog CO2 neutral” sagt, dass 1 Baum so viel wie  5 kg (11lb) CO2 pro Jahr reduziert. Falls man also teil nimmt rettet man die Welt schon ein Stueckchen.

Ja, ich weiss diese Berechnungen sind irgendwie dubios. Aber was solls? Sie pflanzen einen Baum und das an sich ist schon etwas Schoenes und Gutes. Wen kuemmert es da wieviel CO2 der Baum reduziert?

Ich jedenfalls werde heute beitreten und somit noch ein bischen mehr tun, als die Lichter auszuschalten, wann immer moeglich, Energiesparlampen zu benutzen, zu laufen statt Auto zu fahren, wenn es geht, einen Pullover zu tragen anstatt die Heizung gleich anzustellen, wiederverwendbare Taschen zu benutzen und anzufangen Shampoo ect selber zu machen, um weniger Muell zu produzieren.

Und Du?????? Wie sieht das mit Dir aus?????

There are taboo’s on blogs????!/Da gibt es Tabu’s in Blogs????!

Oh bless me and my innocent view of the world!Last month I read for the first time that there might be something like “taboo’s” in the blogging community. Apparently The Vandal Author Derek Haines decided for himself to follow the guidelines for cultivated dinner conversation (don’t talk about sex, politics and religion) in his blog. I can understand where he comes from: Controversial topics even at a cultivated dinner table mostly end in guests arguing with each other about things that should not be argued about and apparently his readers see this the same way for his blog. They remind him if he ever dares to cross the line. Still I found it somehow odd.

Today I stumbled over the buzz of the synergetistic pen called “Speak your mind, dammit!” on SeededBuzz asking if there are topics we do not blog about and why this is so. Again I was reminded that there are topics that many people avoid. Hers are apparently different than the ones above but please have a look for yourself http://thesynergisticpen.com/2011/10/15/speak-your-mind-dammit/.

So what? There are topics I am not supposed to talk about? Why the ….?! Who should stop me and why?
Is it not the idea of the Internet to offer a podium of free speech and free communication of readers and writers of different cultural, spiritual, religious, politic ect backgrounds? Why would we put restrictions on ourselves?

Well of course there have to be restrictions in how we address our readers as well as our readers address us and other readers. I would not approve of rude, disrespectful, racist, sexist and other illegal ~ist comments. And I think the majority of the blogging community agrees on that. But common sense politeness and staying within legal and human rights rules is a slightly different problem than choosing the topic you want to write about.

I commented on Derek Haines’ blog entry that I agree I do not want to discuss controversial topics at the dinner table I want to eat in peace but that I think it is important to find places to talk about taboo’s to bring light into difficult situations as well as to educate. Another reader wrote that she likes to hear other opinions to find out the other side of a topic and that is how I feel as well. The Internet offers a tremendous opportunity to get into contact with others who either agree or have another opinion and to learn from each other. And if someone writes something I do not like: Who forces me to read it???????

I love exactly this freedom of speech and communication in the worldwideweb! It offers humankind the possibility to learn tolerance towards other opinions as well as to learn how to interact with someone who disagrees with me. This seems to me to be one of the most important things for our species to learn if we want to survive.

Ach Du je! Ich und meine naive Sicht der Welt!

Im letzten Monat habe ich zum ersten Mal etwas von Tabu’s in der Bloggerwelt gelesen.

Offensichtlich hat der The Vandal Autor Derek Haines fuer sich und seinen Blog entschieden, den Richtlinien fuer kultivierte Konversation (man spricht nicht ueber sex, politics und religion), zu folgen. Ich verstehe, warum er das so sieht: Kontroverse Themen bei Tisch fuehren nur zu hitzigen Diskussionen der Gaeste, uber Dinge, ueber die man nicht diskutieren sollte. Offensichtlich sehen das die Leser seines Blogs genauso und erinnern ihn sofort daran, falls er diese Richtlinien mal ueberschreitet. Ich fand das irgendwie komisch.

Heute bin ich ueber den buzz von the synergetistic pen gestolpert, der ”Speak your mind, dammit (Verdammt nochmal sag doch was Du denkst!” heisst. Er ist auf  SeededBuzz und fragt, ob es da Themen gibt, ueber die wir in unseren Blogs nicht schreiben und warum das so ist. Wieder wurde ich daran erinnert, dass es da Dinge gibt, die Menschen in Konversationen oder Blogs vermeiden. Offensichtlich sind das andere fuer sie aber schaut doch selber mal nach http://thesynergisticpen.com/2011/10/15/speak-your-mind-dammit/.

Wie jetzt? Da gibt es Themen, ueber die ich nicht reden soll? Warum zur H…..? Wer sollte mich stoppen und warum?

Ist  es nicht die Idee des Internets, ein Podium fuer freie Rede und freie Kommunikation zwischen Lesern und Schreibern von unterschiedlichen kulturellen, spirituellen, religioesen, politischen ect Hintergruenden zu bieten? Warum sollten wir uns selber einengen?

Natuerlich muss es da Einschraenkungen geben insofern wir unsere Leser wie auch unsere Leser uns und andere Leser ansprechen. Ich wuerde niemals unhoeflichen, respektlosen, rassistischen, sexistischen und anderen illegalen ~ischen Kommentaren zustimmen. Und ich denke die Mehrheit der Bloggerwelt stimmt dem zu. Aber Hoeflichkeit und im Rahmen von Recht und Menschrecht zu bleiben, ist etwas anderes als ueber welches Thema wir schreiben.

Ich habe auf Derek Haines’ blog Eintrag geantwortet, dass ich auch nicht am Dinner Tisch ueber diese Themen reden will und lieber in Ruhe esse. Aber ich finde es auch wichtig, einen Ort zu haben, an dem man ueber Tabu’s sprechen kann, um Licht in schwierige Situationen zu bringen und zu erziehen. Eine andere Leserin schrieb, dass sie gerne andere Meinungen hoert, um die andere Seite eines Themas zu erkennen. Das Internet bietet die enorme Moeglichkeit, mit anderen in Kontakt zu kommen (egal ob sie einem zustimmen oder anderer Meinung sind) und voneinander zu lernen. Und wenn jemand was schreibt, das ich nicht mag: Keiner zwingt mich, es zu lesen!

Ich liebe exakt diese Meinungsfreiheit und Freiheit der Kommunikation im Internet! Es bietet den Menschen die Moeglichkeit, Toleranz gegenueber anderen Meinungen zu lernen und auch wie man mit anderen Meinungen am Besten umgeht. Das scheint mir eines der wichtigen Dinge zu sein, die die Menschheit lernen muss, falls sie ueberleben will.

Place of belonging/ Da wo man hingehoert

I found Lauren Holgates blog entry about the question: “Where do we belong” or more “Were do we come from” on SeededBuzz. She has moved a lot as a child and it feels difficult for her to answer that question.

I am from the South of Germany. A village which has grown a lot since I have moved away some 24 years ago (is it really that long ago?). The county is Baden-Wuertemberg in the south-west of the country and I lived in a hilly area called the Swabian Alb. I always claim that I am not patriotic but I am actually pretty glad to come from the place where Friedrich Schiller, Porsche , the Brezel, the Maultasche and Boris Becker come from.

It used to be a very poor county because the soil was not very good so the clever Swabians became inventors and travellers to make up for it. I am sure you find a great many of my ancestors in places like America, Russia and even Africa and Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, the first edition of the push bike, the modern wind turbines and the Steiff-Teddy are just a few of the inventions my fellow Swabians created. Not to mention all the artists, writers and musicians.

But if you ask me if I belong there I would say “no”! I happen to be more a “Where ever I lay my hat that is my home” kind of person (funny though that I haven’t had a hat since my teenage times in Swabia but just bought one).
My feeling of belonging has more to do with people I have a connection with (and they live all over the world) or with my spiritual connections (you can cultivate those everywhere really).

Swabia with all its oddities (I will mention the “Kehrwoche”, “lick my a…” as a friendly greeting and calling everything in its diminutive version in a later entry) is definitely the basis of my being ~ you can not get rid of the influences of your childhood no matter how hard you try. But as we travelled a lot and I was reading a lot as well I did not stay inside those boundaries.  So maybe I come from Swabia but belong the world

Wilhelma, Zoo, Stuttgart, Baden-Wuertemberg, Germany

Ich habe den Blogeintrag “Where do we belong/Wo gehoeren wir hin” oder eher “Were do we come from/Wo kommen wir her” von  Lauren Holgates auf SeededBuzz gelesen. Sie ist als Kind oft umgezogen und findet es schwierig, diese Frage zu beantworten.

Ich komme aus Sueddeutschland aus einem Dorf, das unheimlich gewachsen ist, seit ich vor ungefaehr 24 Jahren dort weggezogen bin (Ist das wirklich schon so lange her?). Das Bundesland ist Baden-Wuertember im Suedwesten des Landes und ich komme aus der huegeligen Gegend der Schwaebischen Alb.
Ich behaupte immer, dass ich nicht patriotisch bin aber ich bin ziemlich froh aus dem Lande Friedrich Schillers, des Porsche, der Brezel, der Maultasche und des Boris Beckers (egal wie die Deutschen zu ihm stehen, die Briten lieben ihn ) ) zu kommen.

Es war frueher ein ziemlich armes Laendchen und so haben sie die clevern Schwaben zu Erfindern und Reisenden entwickelt um das auszugleichen. ich bin mir sicher, dass ich einige meiner Vorfahren an Orten in Amerika, Russland und sogar Afrika wiederfinden kann. Erfindungen wie der Mercedes, der Porsche, das erste Fahrrad, moderne Windturbinen und natuerlich der Steiff-Teddy wurde von meinem Landsleuten erfunden. Nicht zu vergessen all die Kuenstler, Dichter und Musiker.

Aber wenn man mich fragt, ob ich da hingehoere wuerde ich “Nein” sagen. Ich bin eher eine Person, die sich heimisch fuehlt, wo sie gerade lebt. Mein Zugehoerigkeitsgefuehl hat mehr mit Menschen zu denen ich eine Verbindung habe (und die sind auf der ganzen Welt) oder mit meinen spirituellen Verbindungen zu tun (und die kann man ueberall entwickeln).

Schwaben mit all seinen Besonderheiten (Ich werde die beruehmte Kehrwoche, “Leck mich am A….” als freundliche Begruessung und alles im Diminutiv zu benennen in einem anderen Beitrag naeher beleuchten) ist sicherlich die Basis fuer mein Sein ~ man kann die Einfluesse seiner KIndheit einfach nicht loswerden egal wie sehr man sich bemueht. Aber da wir viel gereist sind und ich viel gelesen haben bin ich ueber diese Grenzen hinausgewachsen. Insofern kann ich vielleicht sagen “Ich komme aus Schwaben gehoere aber zur ganzen Welt”

The trouble with religion ~ Das Problem mit Religionen SeededBuzz

Urban from Chasing the Asson speaks my mind in his blogpost “There is no hell“.

He comes from a catholic background and thinking about the Christian God and how this god was taught to him he found some contradictions. How can a god of love and his pretty liberal son (respecting prostitutes, people of other races and classes eg.) be the god of those who think that their religion is the only one, who make their followers scared of hell and sins and assassinate followers of other religions for example?

He does not only talk about Catholicism or Christianity. He had a look at many religions that became the main one of a state and he realised that power and government responsibility does the same to all religions: They lose their basics of freedom, tolerance and empowerment the basics that were intended by their founders.

But he does not stop by stating the obvious and moaning. He has an idea how religion could (should?) be and how he wants to bring change around. In his opinion most religions work with guilt and fear, telling us how bad we are and that we are damned. Not exactly a way of making someone self-confident, bringing positive energy into this world. But that is what he thinks this world and the religions need: Positive Energy healing Mother Earth and her children. Positively he does not start preaching of how to do this and what steps we must take. He just states that he has to start by himself. Healing his traumas, emotional scars, working on his negative energies and bit by bit becoming a positive energy being, which needs time, effort and energy but it is definitely worth it.

I have been looking for Visions for a new world. I had a look at several ideas how this could happen and all of them have good ideas and positive values. But none of them seemed for me to get to the centre of what is missing. I was missing the spiritual dimension of the problem. And maybe the reason why there is so much “hell” on this planet is just that: Most have lost the spiritual connection and I mean any sort of spiritual connection. That does not mean starting to pray and energy clean yourself will do the trick. It means both sorting your spiritual connection but also make practical changes in your daily life as well as in the wider society. Striving for “Heaven on earth”!

Urban von Chasing the Asson spricht mir in seinem blogpost “There is no hell/Es gibt keine Hoelle” aus der Seele.

Er kommt von einem katholischen Hintergrund und als er anfing, ueber den christlichen Gott und wie dieser ihm beigebracht wurde, nachzuenken, fielen ihm einige Ungereimtheiten auf. Wie kann ein Gott der Liebe und sein ziemlich liberaler Sohn (er behandelte Prostituierte und Leute von anderen Rassen und Klassen gleichberechtigt zum Bsp) der gleiche Gott sein wie der, von den Leuten, die denken, dass ihre Religion die einzige ist; die ihre Nachfolger mit der Hoelle und mit Suenden veraengstigen und Nachfolger anderer Religionen umbringen?

Aber er spricht nicht nur ueber Katolizismus oder Christentum. Er hat sich mit anderen Religionen, die Staatsreligionen wurden, beschaefftigt und fand bei allen das gleiche. Sobald sie mit staatlicher Macht in Verbindung kommen, verlieren sie die Grundsaetze von Freiheit, Toleranz und Ermaechtigung (leider beschreibt das deutsche Wort nicht exact das gleiche wie das englische Empowerment), die ihre Gruender beabsichtigt hatten.

Aber er bleibt nicht nur dabei, das Offensichtliche zu bejammern. Er hat eine Idee, wie Religion aussehen koennte (oder sollte?) und wie er zu Veraenderung beitragen kann. Seiner Meinung nach arbeiten die meisten Religionen mit Schuldgefuehlen und Angst und erzaehlen uns wie schlecht wir sind. Das sind nicht genau die Vorraussetzungen, die es braucht, um selbstbewusste Menschen hervorzubringen, die positive Engergie in diese Welt bringen. Das aber ist es, was diese Welt seiner Meinung nach braucht: Positive Energie, um Mutter Erde und ihre Kinder, zu heilen. Es ist positiv, dass er nicht zu predigen anfaengt und uns erzaehlt, was wir tun muessen. Er stellt nur fest, dass er bei sich beginnen muss. Er muss seine Traumas, seine emotionalen Wunden heilen und an seinen negativen Energien arbeiten, um nach und nach ein positives Energie Wesen zu werden. Das braucht Zeit, Kraftaufwand und Energie aber es ist es wert!

Ich habe nach Visionen fuer eine neue Welt gesucht. Einige Ideen habe ich hier in diesem Blog vorgestellt und alle haben gute Ideen und positive Werte. Aber keine davon schienen mir zum Grund des Problems zu kommen.  Ich habe die spirituelle Dimension des Problems vermisst. Und vielleicht ist das der einzige Grund, warum es so viel “Hoelle” auf diesem Planeten gibt: Die meisten haben ihre spirituelle Verbindung verloren und ich  meine jede Art von spiritueller Verbindung. Das bedeutet nicht, dass beten und das Saeubern der eigenen Energien alles verbessert. Es bedeuted, die spirituelle Verbindung zu regenerieren wie auch praktische Veraenderungen im eigenen Leben wie auch in der weiteren Gesellschaft, zu bewirken. Fuer den “Himmel auf Erden” zu arbeiten!

Does your blog have a mission?/Hat Dein Blog eine Mission?

Once again I visited Seeded.Buzz to check on my long list of posts I wanted to buzz with and came across this question by The Blooming Wildflower Project. Apparently the lady who writes the blog read an e-book called “52 Weeks of Blogging Your Passion” by Tara which stated that your blog needs a mission to be successful (http://www.bloomingwildflowers.com/2010/02/getting-passionate-about-my-blog.html).
“Oh does it?” was my innocent still-newbie-blogger mind asking.”Well” thought the mind “let’s have a look what other’s write about that question”:
Now there is Tabitha The Knitting Journeyman, who uses her blog as a personal journal writing about her own journey to not hiding anymore but also about her work and she puts her mission lovely simple on the top of her blog:  Gathering Up One Thread At A Time As I Weave This Web Of Mine….. I like that! It is simple but mysterious and I definitely will come back. Even if it is just to find out why a lovely woman calls herself a “Knittingman” (http://knittingjourneymanredux.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-passions-revealed.html).

Richard Jeffrey Newman wonders on his blog if he should be a bit more specific and not only to write about “in no par­ti­cu­lar order, lite­ra­ture and social jus­tice; poetry and sex; trans­la­tion and mas­cu­li­nity; Jew­ish iden­tity and teach­ing; gen­der and Iran; wri­ting and femi­nism; and wha­te­ver else moves me to write  —  because it really is, all of it, connected” I agree on the connected bit so that is another one I will come back to (http://www.richardjnewman.com/2010/03/10/a-blogging-mission-statement/).

Thomas Wood wants more readers (don’t we all?!) on the ModernSophist and asks his readers for suggestions and feedback what they liked the best so far. I am not sure if I can follow his humor (after all I am German and supposedly have none) but his site is well-made and well-written so there is a chance for me coming back (http://modernsophist.com/what-is-this-website-about-you-help-decide/)

The Malay Lady from http://wss-scrapbook.blogspot.com wants to “cater my scrapbook and swapping addiction” and believe me what she hand crafts is really beautiful. But what the h… is Swap.bot.? (http://wss-scrapbook.blogspot.com/2010/07/is-this-newbie-blog.html)

Ok I can not cut this one short – it is just too lovely and exactly what I like to read:
“This, That and The Other is the reflection of my life, my spirit, my view of the world. Ich habe mich mal wieder auf  Seeded.Buzz umgesehen, um meine lange Liste von Buzzes, die ich beantworten will, abzuarbeiten und bin auf diese Frage von  The Blooming Wildflower Project gestossen. Offensichtlich hat die Dame, die den blog schreibt, ein elektronisches Buch gelesen, das  “52 Weeks of Blogging Your Passion” von Tara heisst und aussagt, dass Dein Blog eine Mission braucht, um erfolgreich zu sein. “Oh braucht es das?” hat mein unschuldiger immernoch-neu-blogger Verstand gefragt.

“Tja” dachte der Verstand “Dann lass uns mal nachsehen, was die anderen dazu zu sagen haben!”:
Da ist zum einen Tabitha von The Knitting Journeyman, die ihren Blog als Tagebuch nutzt, um ihre Entwicklung zum “sich nicht mehr verstecken” zu beschreiben und sie haelt ihre Mission huebsch kurz: Einen Faden nach dem anderen aufnehmen, waehrend ich mein Netz webe….Diese Mission gefaellt mir und ich werde sicherlich zurueckkommen und sei es nur um herauszufinden, warum eine nette Dame sich  ”Strickmann/Knittingman” nennt (http://knittingjourneymanredux.blogspot.com/2010/03/my-passions-revealed.html).

Richard Jeffrey Newman fragt sich auf seinem blog, ob er ein bischen genauer sein soll und nicht nur ueber “in keiner besonderen Reihenfolge Literatur und soziale Gerechtigkeit, Lyrik und Sex, Uebersetzung und Maennlichkeit, Juedische Identitaet und Lehren, Geschlecht und Iran, Schreiben und Feminismus und was auch immer mich zum schreiben veranlasst – weil wirklich alles davon zusammenhaengt” zu schreiben. Ich stimme dem “alles ist miteinander verbunden-Teil” zu und so ist dies auch ein Blog, auf den ich immer wieder zurueck kommen werde. Thomas Wood will mehr Leser (wollen wir das nicht alle)  auf  ModernSophist und bittet seine Leser um Vorschlaege und auch um Rueckmeldung, was ihnen bisher am besten gefallen hat. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich seinem Humor immer folgen kann (bin ja auch Deutsche und angeblich haben wir ja keinen Humor) aber sein Blog ist gut gemacht und gut geschrieben. Die malaiische Dame von  http://wss-scrapbook.blogspot.com hat ihren Blog darauf ausgerichtet, ihre Sucht nach “Fotoalben und Austauschen” darzustellen und glaubt es mir: Was sie da so selbst herstellt ist wunderschoen. Aber was zum T…. ist  Swap.bot.? (http://wss-scrapbook.blogspot.com/2010/07/is-this-newbie-blog.html)

Ok diesen kann ich nicht abkuerzen – es ist einfach zu schoen und genau das, was ich gerne auf einem Blog lese:

Na dann – was ist meine Mission?

“Ich hatte einen privaten blog, in dem meine Freunde meine Gedanken, interessante Links und was immer mir in den Sinn kam, lesen konnten. Aber in den letzten Tagen habe ich sehr viel geblogt und auch blogs gelesen und habe Lust bekommen einen oeffentlichen zu schreiben und hier ist er!
Ich bin kein Journalist und deshalb sind mein Texte total subjektiv und es gibt jede Menge mehr uber meine Themen herauszufinden. Die Links, die ich benutze, geben nicht notwendigerweise meine Meinung wieder und die Verantwortung dafuer liegt bei den Besitzern dieser Seiten.”

Meine Guete ist das langweilig!

Aber ich glaube Ihr muesst mal wieder kommen, um herauszufinden, ob ich kreativ genug war eine neue Mission zu finden!

I wrote yesterday about my question why people write and my answer was something like: it seems to be the natural thing for me to do.
I buzzed the post on SeededBuzz and found three other Blogs which followed the same kind of question:

All three answered in a way my question but what struck me at one of the posts was that I do not feel to say: I am a writer.
I write – I love to write – I write practically daily – yes all of these but not: I am a writer.

And again I wonder . Why is it hard for me to say that? I do not think that I need to be published to say it.(I am published by the way so that would not be a reason really.) Maybe it has something to do with the fact that writers are a bit odd at times and probably have a hard life. Well I do not care too much about what people say or think or at least I try not too. So that can not be the reason either. So what then?? What is it?

Someone wrote in my Abi-Magazine ( A magazine made after doing my A-Levels in Germany) that I am a person who firstly wants to be human and I guess that puts it to the point: I am firstly a human not a writer, sales assistant, European, Spiritual …. you name it.

That is probably another reason why I write: To promote Humanity and being human!

Ich schrieb gestern ueber meine Frage, warum Menschen wohl schreiben und meine Antwort , warum ich schreibe, war so was wie: Es scheint mir einfach natuerlich zu sein. Alle drei beantworteten meine Frage auf die eine oder andere Art aber was mich aufhorchen lies bei einem war, warum ich mich nicht wirklich eine Autorin nennen will. Ich schreibe – Ich liebe es zu schreiben – Ich schreibe so gut wie jeden Tag – ja das alles aber nicht: Ich bin eine Autorin.

Und wieder wundere ich mich . Warum ist es schwer fuer mich, das zu sagen? Ich denke nicht, dass ich veroeffentlicht sein muss, um mich Autorin zu nennen. (Nebenbei gesagt bin ich das insofern kann das kein Grund sein.) Vielleicht hat es etwas damit zu tun, dass Autoren manchmal ein bischen komisch sind und vermutlich ein hartes Leben haben. Tja ich kuemmere mich nicht mehr so viel darum, was andere Menschen denken oder sagen oder zu mindest versuche ich das. Das kann also auch nicht wirklich der Grund sein. Was ist es also?

Jemand hat in mein Abi-Heft geschrieben, dass ich eine Person bin, die zu allererst Mensch sein will und das bringt es vermutlich auf den Punkt. Ich bin zu erst Mensch nicht Autorin, Verkaeuferin, Europaerin, spirituell….. was auch immer.

Das ist vermutlich ein weiterer Grund, warum ich schreibe: Um Menschlichkeit und menschlich sein zu foerdern.

Why am I a vegetarian?/Warum ich vegetarisch esse

On SeededBuzz I found a blog entry about all forms vegetarian. It is called Being a Vegetarian is so much more than eating vegetables and I was surprised that there are so many forms of vegetarians.

Well some eat fish some don’t. Some eat eggs but no dairy products some the other way round and then there are those who just eat vegetables (and probably fruit) but no dairy or eggs but those are vegans as far as I know. Of course all of them eat no meat. Oh sorry there are those who still eat some poultry.

I could never miss my yoghurt or the milk on my Corn flakes. And sometimes I feel the urge to eat prawn cocktail. As it happens I believe if my body graves for it it probably needs it. Of course not if it is all the chocolate I grave for but that is probably more my troubled mind than my body.

There was also another blog post about the question if becoming a vegetarian is the right decision (“Less is more“) The lady said she is very conscious about her food decisions but she does not feel being vegetarian is the right thing to do. She opts more for being moderate with eating meat.

Reading both posts made me wonder what made me become a vegetarian.

I have been eating vegetarian on and off for years. The first time I did it was for 7 weeks in the time of lent. There is a German movement called “7 Wochen ohne” (7 weeks without) from the protestant church. They promote to stop doing or eating something in the lent time and give the money you save to “Brot fuer die Welt” a German Charity to prevent hunger and famine all over the world.
The second time was after my biology teacher taught us about all the bugs and worms you can catch from eating meat or fish. Woa was that disgusting!!!

My problem used to be that I am a bit allergic to cheese and I never especially liked cheese so it was hard to find something for my sandwiches. That most definitely has changed since I have fully stopped eating meat. Still can’t eat it on a sandwich though.

So why have I become a vegetarin in the end. First of all animal rights: I do not believe that eating an animal that has been raised in a cage with horrible dried food can be good for any of of. Secondly health. Even though humans are omnivores and can eat all sorts of things I believe a diet with mainly vegetables, grains, nuts, fruit, eggs and dairy sustains us in a better way. And thirdly I never liked meat a lot anyway. Well my family would disagree I suspect. There goes the rumor that I loved my mums friends butchery very much and used to be given a sausage in each hand and I loved it. But that is nearly 40 years ago. Things have changed since I have been a little girl

Auf SeededBuzz habe ich einen Blog Eintrag ueber die diversen Formen von Vegetariern gefunden. Er heisst  Being a Vegetarian is so much more than eating vegetables (Man isst mehr als nur Gemuese, wenn man Vegetarier ist) und ich war erstaunt wie viele Formen von Vegetariern es gibt.

Tja einige essen Fisch einige nicht. Einige essen Eier aber keine Milchprodukte und einige umgekehrt und dann gibt es da noch die, die nur Gemuese essen (und vermutlich auch Obst) aber die heissen Vegans so viel ich weiss. Natuerlich essen sie alle kein Fleisch. Oh Entschuldigung da gibt es noch die, die ein bischen Huhn essen.

Ich koennte niemals ohne meinen Joghurt und die Milch auf den Corn Flakes leben. Und manchmal fuehle ich den tiefen Drang, Krabbencocktail zu essen. Ich denke, wenn sich mein Koerper danach sehnt, dann braucht er das auch. Natuerlich nicht, wenn es um Schokolade geht. Aber das ist vermutlich mehr mein sorgenvolles Gemuet als mein Koerper.

Da gab es  noch einen anderen Blog Eintrag ueber die Frage, ob Vegetarier werden die richtige Entscheidung ist.  (“Less is more” “Weniger ist mehr”) Die Dame schrieb, dass sie sehr achtsam ist, was sie isst aber sie glaubt nicht, dass vegetarisch essen, die richtige Entscheidung fuer sie ist. Sie glaubt mehr an gemaessigtes essen von Fleisch.

Beide Eintraege haben mich zum Nachdenken gebracht, warum ich vegetarisch esse.

Ich habe mich immer mal wieder vegetarisch ernaehrt. Das erste mal wegen “7 Wochen ohne” der Fastenaktion der Evangelischen Kirche. Das zweite Mal als mein Biologie Lehrer uns erzaehlte, welche Wuermer und anderes Getier man sich von Fleisch und Fisch einhandeln kann. Mann war das eklig!!!

Mein Problem dabei war immer, dass ich ein bischen allergisch auf Kaese reagiere und ich ihn auch nie besonders mochte. So hatte ich Schwierigkeiten, etwas fuer mein Butterbrot zu finden. Das hat sich allerdings geaendert, seit ich kein Fleisch mehr esse. Kaese auf dem Broetchen funktioniert aber immer noch nicht.

Warum esse ich also kein Fleisch? Zuerst einmal der Tierschutz. Ich glaube nicht, dass es gut fuer uns ist, das Fleisch von Tieren zu essen, die in Kaefigen gezogen werden und ekliges Trockenfutter zu essen kriegen. Zweitens Gesundheit. Obwohl Menschen Allesfresser sind und alles moegliche essen koennen, denke ich, dass eine Ernaehrung mit mit Gemeuse, Korn, Nuessen, Fruechten, Eiern, Milchprodukten uns besser ernaehrt. Und drittens mochte ich Fleisch nie besonders.

Naja meine Familie wuerde da widersprechen. Es geht das Geruecht herum, dass ich die Metzgerei der Freundin meiner Mutter geliebt habe. Man fand mich da oft schmausend mit einem Wuerstchen in jeder Hand. Aber das ist fast 40 Jahre her und vieles hat sich geandert seit ich ein kleines Maedchen war

1. Who is your all-time favourite author, and why?

My all-time favourite Author is definitely J.R.R. Tolkien. I just love his way of writing and reading The Lord of the Rings has taught me a lot about how to write a fantasy novel. (I wish I would put it into practise a lot more…. but that’ another blog post )

2. Who was your first favourite author, and why?  Do you still consider him or her among your favourites?

My first favourite Author was Enid Blython. I read practically every book of her that was available in Germany from Malory Towers to The Famous Five. And yes she is still one of my favourites. My partners daugther loves The Faraway Tree that is one I do not know yet and I am determined to read it as soon as I can.

3. Who’s the most recent addition to your list of favourite authors, and why?

Jose Eduardo Agualusa. He is an Angolan writer and journalist who has studied in Portugal. I came about his book “My father’s wives” through the International Reading Group in Norwich UK and I was captivated by his style which for me has something of Virginia Wolf. I love it how he changes perspective and how magic is part of his character’s lives. I am eager to read more from him.

4. If someone asked you who your favourite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?  Are there any you’d add on a moment of further reflection?

Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, Jose Eduardo Agualusa, J.R.R. Tolkien

Ich bin gerade SeededBuzz beigetreten. Das ist eine Online-Gemeinschaft, die dazu anregt auf die Blogeintraege anderer Blogger zu reagieren und so mehr Leser zu gewinnen. Ich mag das Ganze jetzt schon obwohl ich gerade erst anfange. So hier ist also mein erster Versuch, auf einen anderen Blog Eintrag zu reagieren, der von  http://bookreviews.me.uk/a-few-favourite-things/ ist.

1. Wer ist Dein liebster Autor aller Zeiten und warum?

Das ist definitiv J.R.R. Tolkien. Ich liebe seine Art zu schreiben und durch das lesen des Herrn der Ringe habe ich eine Menge darueber gelernt, wie man eine Fantasy-Geschichte schreibt. (Ich wuenschte ich wuerde das mehr in die Praxis umsetzen )

2. Wer war Dein erster Lieblingsschriftsteller/In und warum? Ist er/sie immer noch einer Deiner liebsten Autoren? 

Meine erste Lieblingsschriftstellerin war Enid Blython. Ich habe praktisch jedes Buch von Ihr gelesen, das in Deutschland erhaeltlich war von Dolly bis Fuenf Freunde. Und ja sie ist immer noch eine meiner Lieblingsautorinnen. Die Tochter meines Partners liest gerade The Faraway Tree (ich konnte keine Deutsche Uebersetzung finden) und ich habe vor auch dieses zu lesen sobald ich kann.

3. Wer ist Dein neuester LieblingsschriftstellerIn und warum? 

Jose Eduardo Agualusa. Er ist ein Schriftsteller und Journalist aus Angola und hat in Portugal studiert. Ich habe sein Buch “My father’s wives” fuer die “International Reading Group” in Norwich UK gelesen und war gleich von seinem Stil, der mich an Virginia Wolf erinnert, gefesselt. Ich liebe es wie er die Perspektive wechselt und wie Magie ein Teil des Lebens seiner Charaktere ist. Ich kann es gar nicht erwarten ein anderes Buch von ihm zu lesen.

4.Falls Dich jemand fragt, wer jetzt Deine Lieblingsschriftsteller sind, wer wuerde Dir zuerst in den Sinn kommen? Gibt es andere nachdem, Du etwas nachgedacht hast?
